Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and it’s the time of year when we think about what we are grateful for. This weeks #bebetter52 challenge is to write down one thing you are grateful for each day. Gratitude opens our eyes and hearts to appreciate what we have in our lives and not to complain. When you acknowledge and are thankful for good, more good comes your way.

Gratitude Journaling Tips

If you are lucky, you can quickly write down, “I am grateful for my family, my health and my job.” But we challenge you to go deeper. What about your family, your health and job? Are you grateful that your sister calls you every week with updates on the nephew you hardly ever see? Are you thankful that the toe you stubbed last week has healed, because you never realized how much you relay on that little pinky toe? Go deep.

Now we challenge you to go even deeper. Look for something you might be resentful or even ungrateful about – and find gratitude in it.

Tracking gratitude helps you identify things, experiences and/or moments that bring happiness into your life. During times of depression and sadness, sometimes one moment of happiness/gratitude experienced during the day can carry you on to the next. Open your eyes to those small moments. Once you can identify them, try to surround yourself with the things that make you happy.
