We all known an apple a day keeps the doctor away but have you ever asked why? Although apples don’t guarantee good health, they’re a great choice when you’re looking for a healthy snack on the go. Apples provide immune-boosting Vitamin C, a healthy-dose of filling fiber, and a small amount of calories (95 in one small apple). They pack in flavor, and with a wealth of varieties to choose from (Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady and Granny Smith) they never get old.
This week’s challenge is to incorporate more apples into your life. Buy a farm fresh local apple from your farmer’s market, or experiment with apples in salads or soups. An apple added to a green smoothie makes for a delicious treat!
