Hello! My name is Emma, and I live in Buffalo, New York. I am a mother to an awesome little guy who is a special needs child in more than one way. I'm also engaged to a great guy! Our family loves to be outdoors and try new adventures. We look forward to our family days together.
This week’s #bebetter52 challenge asked us to pay it forward. I donated to the American Heart Association and to the Women's March on Washington, D.C., and I also signed up to be a volunteer at a local soup kitchen. My favorite part of this challenge was raising awareness for issues important to me and my family.
My son, born with a congenital-heart disease, had to undergo open heart surgery at six days old. This isn't his only major health issue, but it was definitely the scariest!! As often as possible, we try to do something to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association.
Other issues we care deeply about hit home for us. I look forward to being a regular volunteer at the soup kitchen so that I can teach my son to be hands on and help others who need it the most. Raising money and awareness for Every Mother Counts means a lot to me. I think it is extremely important for every mother to have a safe and healthy pregnancy, no matter where she lives or where she comes from!
